Mixed experiences this weekend in Luxembourg and Lich

Another busy show weekend for us. On Saturday we made our way to the Lux Expo in Luxembourg for the 95th International Dog Show. This is known to be a challenging show. Not only because of the high level of competition but perhaps more so because of the facilties. It’s very tight in the halls without any daylight. There are also sadly no facilities to really walk the dogs (besides a tarmac car park outside) so there is dog poo and pee everywhere. Today was no different. It was very busy which meant little space to put the dogs and sit adding to the overall nerves and tension. Judging was performed by Mrs. Cathy Delmar (IRL) who was very quick in judging. One of the downsides of these shows is that there is no feedback other than your placing. As such we can ‘t say too much other than that Indy was scored Promising and awarded 2nd Place in Puppy Class. Riley managed to get an Excellent with 3rd Place.
We were glad to be home early and after an early night it was on to the second show of the weekend.

Sunday meant getting up early again for the 3 hour drive to Lich by Giessen (D) for the 30th DRC SRA show. In total contrast to Saturday this show was held outside again in the lovely Schlosspark in Lich Old Town. Weather was great with lots of sun and not to warm. With plenty of space around there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
As usual Indy was first up in the Puppy Class. He performed lovely albeit somewhat distracted by lovely smells on the ground. (At 7 months he is really starting to use his nose now). His efforts were rewarded with very nice and positive comments from Judge Mrs. Birgitte Jorgensen ( DK ). Best of all was the strong advise to continue to show him as she thought him to be a lovely young dog who will clearly grow into something nice. Indy got a Very Promising 2nd Place today.

Riley too struggled to keep his nose off the ground but with plenty of encouragement from Elle to the great entertainment of the Judge and show leaders he performed very well. He too received some very nice comments from the Judge and in the end was awarded with an Exc. 3rd Place.

The rest of the day was spent getting to know more people, walking in the park and generally having a lovely day out.

And so our weekend of mixed experiences ended on a very high note and we thank the organisers and judges for the all their hard work.

And here are a few pictures from the weekend.
