Today we received the official results from Laboklin on Riley’s DNA tests.
We had these tests done to check if Riley carried any recessive gene mutations commonly found in Labradors. Should we ever decide to breed with him it is good to know if there are any underlying issues which he could pass on to the pups.
We are extrememly happy that both EIC (Exercise Induced Collapse) and HNPK (Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis) came back clear.
Together with his eye exam which came back clear as well there is now nothing standing in the way of entering Riley in the official Stud Register.
The DNA test also confirmed that alongside his natural Black coat colour, Riley also carries Yellow which means that depending on who he mates with he could also produce yellow lab pups.
Fot those new to this (as we are) there is a good article on The Labrador Site
